Technical Documentation

Welcome to the BJT.nu Technical Documentation page. Here, you’ll find detailed information on our tuning tools, setup instructions, and technical specifications. This page is intended to guide you through the tuning process and provide support for setup and troubleshooting.

Once you buy a product you will be sent a PDF manual and EXE installer for your PC.

1. Getting Started with Remote Tuning

Requirements:

  • Windows PC with internet connection
  • BJT.nu USB Tuning Interface
  • ECU License (required per engine)

Setup Instructions:

  • Step 1: Install the necessary software on your Windows PC.
  • Step 2: Connect the USB Tuning Interface to your PC and your Mercury ECU.
  • Step 3: Follow the software prompts to complete the tuning process.

Note: Make sure you have a stable internet connection throughout the tuning process.

2. USB Tuning Interface Guide

The USB Tuning Interface allows you to connect your ECU to our tuning software for remote tuning. Below are details on setup, compatibility, and reusability.

  • Compatibility: The USB Tuning Interface is compatible with all supported Mercury outboard models.
  • Reusability: You can reuse the USB interface on multiple engines, but each engine requires its own ECU license.
  • Return Policy: If you no longer need the USB interface, it can be returned to us for a full refund.

3. ECU Send-In Process

For customers who prefer not to tune remotely, we offer an ECU send-in service. Here’s how it works:

  • Step 1: Remove your ECU from your engine and securely package it for shipping.
  • Step 2: Send the ECU to our address:
    • Address: BJT.nu, Halvslagsvägen 12, 139 55 Värmdö, Sweden
  • Step 3: Once we receive your ECU, we will complete the tuning and ship it back by the next business day.

Please include your contact information inside the package.

4. Fuel Recommendations

Our tuning services can optimize your engine for different fuel types. For best results, we recommend:

  • Premium Fuel (98 RON EU / 93 AKI USA): Provides optimal performance and power gains.
  • Standard Fuel (95 RON EU): Suitable for standard optimization levels, though premium fuel is recommended for maximum output.

Check specific fuel requirements on each product page for more details.

6. Troubleshooting and Support

If you encounter any issues during tuning, here are some common troubleshooting steps:

  • Connection Issues: Ensure the USB interface is securely connected to both the PC and the ECU.
  • Software Errors: Restart the tuning software and verify that your internet connection is stable.
  • Compatibility Check: Verify that your PC meets the requirements for the tuning software.

8. Locations of ECU and OBD ports.

Many Engines can be tuned via the OBD port.
No need to remove the ECU from the engine.
Find either a Junction box and connect the interface there or connect direct to the port on the engine.
If you have problems locating an OBD port then contact us.

Engines can also be tuned in "bench mode". Remove the ecu from the engine and connect cables to the pins direct.
